Miss Grand International officially stripped the title of 2nd Runner-up

Miss Grand Myanmar was stripped of her second runner-up title due to inappropriate actions and statements and violating some of the program’s regulations.

The Miss Grand International (MGI) 2024 pageant has concluded, with the crown belonging to the representative from India – Rachel Gupta. The runner-up positions respectively belonged to beauties from the Philippines, Myanmar, France, and Brazil. However, although the results have been announced, the noise on the sidelines of the event has not yet subsided.

The news that has caused a stir among the program’s supporters recently is that the 2nd Runner-up – Miss Grand Myanmar Thae Su Nyein livestreamed on October 27 and declared:  I don’t need the 2nd Runner-up title – MGI 2024, there’s no need to keep that position for me. Because I will be with my National Director, I came to become a beauty queen, not to be ranked 2nd or 3rd  . In addition, the Myanmar beauty also did not participate in activities immediately after the final night.

Previously, Mr. Soe Min Tun – Miss Grand Myanmar national director – expressed dissatisfaction with the result when Thae Su Nyein only won the title of 2nd runner-up. In anger, he suddenly snatched the tiara Thae Su Nyein was wearing, removed the sash of 2nd runner-up with an angry attitude. This action surprised many witnesses and commented that his reaction was somewhat childish. Immediately after that, he posted on his personal page: ” Bye forever”. This raised speculation that Myanmar would withdraw from Miss Grand International.

After the final night, the National Director of Miss Grand Myanmar also livestreamed to express his anger, saying that the actual contest had some injustices. Mr. Nawat also immediately spoke up at a recent press conference with the media:  Do they think the Miss Grand International crown is that easy to buy? How much is 25,000 USD? I’m waiting for her to return the crown or has she already brought it on the plane back to the country. They still owe the copyright fee, so there will be a new copyright for Miss Grand Myanmar soon .”

Currently, after the livestream refusing the title of Miss Grand Myanmar, the MGI homepage has removed all images and information of Thae Su Nyien from the top 5 finalists. At the same time, this organization also officially announced the decision to revoke the title of 2nd Runner-up from Miss Myanmar because Thae Sun Nyein had behaviors and actions that were not in accordance with the program’s regulations.

Immediately after the announcement was made, beauty fans around the world expressed their agreement with the Miss Grand organizers for being ready to eliminate individuals who disrespect the title and negatively affect the program.
